Kanye West is definitely aware of his value.
The 45-year-old Kanye West's claimed seven-figure performance fee, which is significantly greater than the $1M estimate that appeared online earlier this week, may be the reason why we've seen fewer appearances from him in recent years.
According to HipHopDX, Instagram user @RapThoughtsDaily estimated that Ye earns $1 million every gig when compiling a list of musicians' concert fees. The father of four (who follows the page) DM'd them to ask for a correction after the article started going viral.
Yeezy wrote them, "Please change this. "I am paid $8 million for my performance." According to additional estimates made by the publication, Joey Bada$$ will get $65K, JID and Denzel Curry will receive $100K, Vince Staples and Kid Cudi will earn $125K, and Tyler, The Creator will make $150K. (though he claimed to make "a million a show" on his Call Me If You Get Lost collaboration with 42 Dugg, "LEMONHEAD").
Drake ($500K) and the still-incarcerated Young Thug ($1.5M) are two more names on the list. The other musicians have yet to confirm or reject the rumors, as details of performance fee negotiations are typically kept under wraps. Ye's $8 million allegation, however, appears to be in keeping with the news stories about the enormous payoff he missed out on by withdrawing from the Coachella lineup earlier this year.
